Three Reasons Why You Should Be Careful In Updating Your Iphone
The iPhone is definitely a phone that has revolutionized the mobile phone industry. It has made consumers go gaga over it for almost two years now. Time Magazine had named it one of the best inventions of 2007, even to the extent of naming it the “Jesus Phone.” But amidst all this success, glitz, and glamour surrounding the iPhone, there are still a few thorns on its side like updating its software/firmware without knowing some of the consequences that follow it. Some issues that surround software updates are problems regarding connectivity and some bugs. So how do you avoid unwanted software updates?
1. Be careful in updating your iTunes in your desktop or laptop.
Some iTunes require for you to update your iPhone to make it compatible. This might prove to be quite troublesome especially when you don't want to upgrade your iPhone's software. Being a new iPhone owner, you might not be aware of such problems faced by iPhone owners of old. So if these so called upgrades are as awesome as its developers claim them to be, why is there no warning signs put up before anybody tries to upgrade it? As you know, iPhone users nowadays are no longer limited to the AT&T carrier. In fact the iPhone has already spread to as far into the pacific as the Philippines.
2.If you haven't received any notification from your cellular service provider, think twice about upgrading..
Some people have experienced some trouble when upgrading to the iPhone's 2.1 firmware. They receive errors like their SIM card isn't supported and that a new “unlocked” SIM card must be inserted into the iPhone for it to be activated once again. This is pretty serious, since downgrading your iPhone's firmware is actually a really tough job to do – seriously. There haven't been that many people who have done this, especially in the new 2.1 firmware.
There has barely been any news about people being able to jailbreak their iPhones. Apparently, the 2.1 is still quite ironclad right now. And for those legitimate users that have unusable SIM cards due to the software upgrade, the only solution that presents itself is that you need to have your current SIM card replaced through your nearest service provider's business center. Good luck waiting in line for it.
3. Downgrading your firmware or even your iTunes, can be a very difficult task.
You can google it if you want; you can even search for a tutorial in youtube. But you're not going to get very far especially when you're not so knowledgeable with software and other things concerning that. Having the latest iTunes 8 and 2.1 firmware might be the most difficult thing for you to crack or downgrade. And actually trying something to downgrade these might actually have you end up getting into a bit of trouble with your disk memory or even your iPhone. Bottom line is that you need to be very sure that you are absolutely ready for an update before you download them.
